These coins are modeled after the Spanish shield-style two escudo doubloon. They are about one inch in diameter (2.5cm) — about the size of a quarter. Spanish mints sometimes used the same molds to make both gold and silver coins, just like these here. They are cast in zinc, which is then plated with ersatz gold or silver. They are a mixed lot of 8 coins, both gold and silver finish, and come in a gold toned bag. They are very solid and make a nice clinking sound. Throw a few of these on your tiki bar and tell your kids real pirates where there!
